And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose . Romans 8:28
There are specific people identified here in two ways. Many people claim this promise who have no right to it, and many neglect it for whom it is true, but there can be no question regarding to whom this promise is made.
First of all they love God. That’s how you and I will know them, if we know them. They will manifest their love for God in that they worship Him and love His people.
Secondly, they love God because He called them according to His purpose. These folks are further described in the next verses – foreknown, predestinated, called, justified and glorified. He called us according to His purpose, because His purpose is a purpose of love motivated by love.
We love our children and “predestinate” them as much as is within our power, and we see to it with all that is in us that everything works for their good. The difference between God and us is that He knows what is good, and all things are in his power. Therefore His children are infinitely blessed.
