The Cosmic Battle There is a battle raging that is greater than any other battle. It is greater than battles between gangs, between conservatives and liberals, between Israel and Palestine or between any other combatants you can name. It is greater than all these others because it is both world-wide and eternal. It is the battle of darkness against God’s Kingdom. We tend to see the effects of the battle but the combatants are not always so clearly defined. This battle was being fought in the Garden of Eden and throughout the history of the Old Testament. It came to its height at the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And it continues today and will be with us the remainder of time. But the greatest certainty of this battle is that the victor is already known even though it continues—and the defeated army knows it yet continues to battle. Where are you? Are you with God in His Kingdom or with the devil in darkness? We urge you to come to be with Christ by trusting in Him and His gracious work at the cross as our sin-bearer. In so doing He also took the punishment we deserved for our sin so that we may enjoy eternal life with Him.
