One way of understanding what God declares an unrighteous decree is by considering them in contrast to what God declares a righteous decree. ALL RIGHTEOUS DECREES HAVE THEIR GLORY FROM THIS GLORIOUS DECLARATION OF OUR KING PRIEST: When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost (John 19: 30.) Unrighteous decrees turn men from this truth to themselves. Righteous decrees have their end in this one great truth--It is finished! The reason I am not trying to keep God's law is because I have kept it. It is finished! The reason I am not trying to justify myself is because I am justified. It is finished! The reason I am not trying to make myself separate and holy is because I am sanctified. It is finished! The reason I am not trying to pay by my servitude is because I have been redeemed, I am bought with a price. It is finished! The reason I am no longer trying to make myself appear wise before men is because I have the mind--the revelation of Christ the Wisdom in me--his wisdom says to me, "It is finished!" The reason I do not make much over the observance of a Sabbath DAY or any other outward observances of men is because since I entered into the perpetual rest of Christ the Sabbath I would rather make much over him who is the end of all will-worship who declares himself the end with these words, "IT IS FINISHED!" The reason I do not play the lawyer, exposing and laying the grievous heavy burden of my brethren's sins upon them when they are overtaken in a fault, is because God has been merciful to their iniquity and remembers their sin no more; I am now governed by the law of Christ which constrains me to bear their burdens because Christ bore their sin and made them righteous. It is finished! (Luke 11: 46; Gal 6: 1, 2.) Some find fault with the righteous decree but it makes your very arguments against it to be in defense of some part of your religious devotions which you are glorying in, whether you will admit it or not. Believer's renounce all their former confidences because the laws of God's redemptive work in Christ written on our hearts by the Holy Spirit constrain us to only speak of Christ's person and work, "It is finished!"
