Your Commission Perhaps you think you have not received a commission. That’s the way many people look at life—that we arrived here in some unknown way with no purpose. So they make up their own mission purpose; as a result, there is no united purpose for the human race in their way of thinking. But for us who know that God created the world and placed us here, we recognize that we have a commission from the One who made us. He made us with His own purpose. Just as you make things to fulfill a purpose you have in mind (e.g. a meal to be eaten and to provide nutrition and energy; a coffee table to beautify a room and to hold magazines) so does God. And as your projects that work properly ultimately give you honor, so God’s creation of you so that you do what He made you to do, will honor Him. You were made to fulfill God’s purpose for you. As you properly use the gifts and abilities He gave you to perform the work He gave you, your work will honor Him. Your commission is to honor the Lord by doing the work He made you to do. For that to happen, you need to trust Jesus Christ and to honor Him as the one who commissions you. We have all received this commission from God.
