Isaiah 9: 3: Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil. When Christ the Light shines in our hearts we behold him as indescribably better than the lie we once called sweet. We joyfully renounce the darkness we wrestled to call light. It marks the beginning of the gospel age for the new born believer. We walk from that day forward, not under the yoke of sin, of the oppressor, no longer laboring to twist the pure doctrine of God so we can hold on to some religious experience, but when he removes the tormenting fear of death by revealing himself-we happily drop everything and take his hand forevermore.
OH THE JOY OF BEING WASHED CLEAN BY THE SAVIOR; TO HAVE INIQUITES PURGED; A CLEAN HEART-WHAT JOY AND WHAT REST. Psalm 51: 7: Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8: Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. 9: Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. 10: Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11: Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 12: Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. 13: Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
FREE AT LAST! Isaiah 9: 4: For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
When Christ applies the gospel in the heart, he breaks the yoke of the liar and the lie and frees the believer into perfect liberty.
We are no longer yoked under the dominion of sin. Sin reigned. Now grace reigns (Ro 5: 17, 21.) Sin reigned unto death. Grace reigns unto life eternal. Sin reigned by Adam. Grace reigns by Christ our Lord (Ro 5: 21.) Because of the power of Christ and the dominion he now has in the hearts of the believer there is not the slightest possibility that sin shall once again take dominion. We are alive and we live-not unto the law-but unto Christ the Lawgiver. (Ro 6: 6-11.)
By purging us of sin and perfecting us forever, Christ has freed us from the bondage of Satan (Mk 3:27.)
Christ has freed us from the fear of death - (Heb. 2:15).
Christ frees us from the curse and dominion of the law, not so that we can obey the law, (Christ did that for us) but so that, now, we are free to live unto God and approach him. (Rom. 7:1-6; I Cor 9: 21; Gal 2: 19; Heb 10: 19-22.)
Christ has freed us from the love for this world (I Joh 4: 3-6.) Much of the tribulation the believer must suffer in this world is due this world's rejection of the God we believe. But he has overcome this world. Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. He prayed to the Father saying, the world hath hated you because he hath given you his word-but through that same truth shall you be kept from this world. That truth is Christ Jesus our Lord.
