Webcast: The Purpose of the Incarnation
"Knowing The Truth " with Pastor Kevin Boling is a live, call-in radio program providing Doctrinal Dialog, Cultural Commentary and Insightful Interviews with some of today's foremost Christian authors and leaders. In the 6th chapter of the Gospel of John, Christ presents Himself in symbolically in both miracle and discourse to man as the ultimate sustenance for the soul. The verse that summarizes this teaching and this chapter is found in verse 48 where Jesus plainly states, "I am the bread of life".
That metaphor, of Christ is that great sustenance and sustainer of the soul, is expounded upon in this chapter, via the miracle that precedes the statement and the discourse that follows it. In doing so, Christ gives His people wonderful insight into the incarnation.
Specifically in verses 38-39 Christ, where He says "For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day." Christ reveals not the very purpose of the incarnation.
