Dear Visitor,I ask you to consider some thoughts from the Lord Jesus Christ's lips:
"Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you:
for him hath God the Father sealed."
John 6:27
The Savior is challenging you my reader with life and death issues. Remember that you have only a short time until you will die and after that the JUDGEMENT! Please meditate with me upon these solemn but hopeful words.
Notice that you are directed to labor for eternity. To strive, work, aspire to something more than the things that perish or decay. In other words you are commanded to seek eternal life instead of temporal life! The meat that you work to buy and then consume is only for a moment. But that meat which is given of Jesus is unto eternity.
The meat/food that "endureth unto eternal life" is Jesus Christ himself (verse 35):
"And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger: and he that believeth on me shall never thirst."
God has "sealed" or authenticated his Son as the Savior of the world. You will truly be saved from the sins of your heart, lip and hand! by simply believing on Jesus. You must be like Zacchaeus in Luke 19 who 'was rich' YET "SOUGHT"- by continual effort (as the original indicates)- "to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press [crowd], because he was little of stature. And he RAN before, and CLIMBED UP into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way." (verses 3-4) I must ask you in light of the coming again of Jesus to judge the living and the dead, Are you actively seeking to see who Jesus is? and overcoming all obstacles and roadblocks? Or is your interest in Christ only passing and pursued if it is easy going? Is your effort only directed toward being rich or respectable in the eyes of other people? Do you find your mind only reluctantly going in the direction of the doctrines of Jesus? O my reader, I PLEAD with you as for your life to heed the gracious command of my Savior- Labour not for the meat which perisheth, BUT for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life.
Again, where shall you find such food for your soul? Jesus says of this food: "which the Son of man shall give unto YOU"- O come to Jesus to find out who he is, the Son of God and man, the Savior of all men from all their sins: past, present, and future by simply accepting the death of Christ on the cross for you personally as a sufficeint payment for your sins for: "him that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out." This will give you that blessedness of being right with God: Justification. This means that your sins are not imputed (accounted legally) to you, but to Christ and that his obedience is imputed to you! Then you may shout with David:
Blessed are they whose inquities are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
Romans 4:7-8
I write for your everlasting good, dear reader and may God give you understanding in these things.
