The Value Of Christ’s Blood

“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you” 1Peter 1:18-20.

The Lord Jesus Christ and His redemptive work is invaluable to the worthless sinner. The preciousness of Christ and His blood does not suggest or reveal the worth of a soul, but the contrary. The redemptive work of Christ reveals the worth and preciousness of Christ to the worthless redeemed sinner. The value or worth of a soul is only of worth or value having the imparted life of Christ and the imputed righteousness of Christ. Apart from union with Christ the soul of man is repugnant to all that is holy and good. The elect of God is glorious only because we are chosen in Him and glorified in Him. All that God has done and is doing in Christ for the sinner reflects His glory and virtue, not the sinners’. The sinner has none of his own. Christ did not die for sinners because they were worth saving. All men are alike by nature. The myriads of lost souls in hell are a testimony to their worthlessness. The multitude of the redeemed ones in glory is a testimony to the worth of Christ and the preciousness of His blood. Any other view would suggest some quality or virtue in the sinner that moved God to choose him, Christ to die for him and thus redeem him. Nothing could be farther from the truth. This is the epitome of Armenian, free-will doctrine, the heart and soul of self-righteousness. The redeemed of the Lord are of great worth only because of our relationship and union with Christ alone - nothing else. This is the case anywhere and everywhere in the scriptures. Every time God says any thing good about any man it is always in respect to his being in Christ. May we never forget the words “IN CHRIST”.
