As the infamous day awakens with us, many may go about their business as usual not realizing the anniversary. September eleventh will forever be etched in our memories because of the evil that men do in this world. But it will dawn on us unexpectedly as we take a look at the newspaper and our eye catches the date at the head of the paper, or it may be when we write a check and suddenly ask, "what's the date today?" No doubt the families of the victims will barely have caught any sleep last night, for they are the first to "never forget."
It is ironic that leaders in the forefront of the news when asked about the kinds of people that perpetrate such atrocities are hesitant to identify it and them as evil, precisely what they are. With those kinds of people at the helm, we will surely relegate this date to a mere lament, but not to the recognition and remembrance of the scandalous demonic behavior that it was. September eleventh was a date that revealed the worst kind of evil because it was blatant wickedness done in the name of God. The reason that jets flew into buildings is that the Muslim fanatics perceive us all as Christians. Now we know better that being an American does not automatically make one a citizen of heaven, but in the perception of those wicked evil ideologues, every victim was just that. "You will be hated by all for My name's sake" (Luke 21:17).
The Bible warns us at "scandals must come," but the Lord also warns, "woe to him through whom they do come!" (Luke 17:1). Indeed, God will avenge His elect. The evil that men do will be accounted for, indeed, those dastardly pernicious men who executed this terrible evil already suffer the burning indignation of God. Rather than celebrate with their promised virgins, they will burn in hell forever and ever, and escaping the just judgment of the Almighty will never be in view. They are now the first to "Never Forget." Let us join them, lest we join them!
