Aeneas is described as a "certain man", "sick of the palsy." In Acts 3:2 Peter came to a certain man lame from his mother's womb; in Acts 14:8 Paul comes to a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet; in Mark 5:25 the woman whom the Lord healed was a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years; the impotent man at the pool of Bethseda lay amongst a multitude of others in his same condition, but the Lord healed only one, a certain man...which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. (John 5: 5.) All those whom God saves in sovereign grace are "certain children", chosen before the foundation of the world in Christ Jesus who when he comes in grace he finds sick and absolutely helpless to help themselves.
