Hyok Kang in This Is Paradise tells that and several other anecdotes that tend to glorify the dynastic duo that have held sway over Chosun lo these many years. Here's more:

War against Japan. Jong-Il throws a rock from the top of a mountain with deadly aim. Literally deadly. The rock strikes a Japanese soldier in a boat below. Kills him. Don't believe it? Hmmm, try this:

Daddy Kim is sleeping between battles. Boy Kim is worried that a bunch of noisy birds will awaken him. He starts to chase them away, but of course he can't make noise either. So he gestures to the birds in signals that somehow they understand, and away they go. Really smart guy.

Then there was this competition at school to see who could advance a feather through the air the farthest distance. All his fool friends tried to throw their feather like a rock. Little Kim won by just blowing the feather through the air. Wow.

Did you know that Jong-Il was such an idealist that he literally chased rainbows? He actually succeeded. He caught one! Really. Why don't you believe me?

In fact most North Korean youth grow up hearing such tales and swallowing them whole. How disappointing and even crushing it must be to discover the truth . What if NK could be introduced to a Hero Who called Himself and truly was, the Truth?

One final story, for those who never have dared to challenge the religion of modern mathematics. Dear Leader is observing a class of very small children. The teacher is illustrating via apples that one (apple) plus one (apple) equals two apples. 1 + 1= 2. Pretty basic stuff. But the star of our show rises to his feet and reminds the class that one portion of water added to another portion of water equals one portion of water still. Hence, 1 + 1 = 1. Not so basic anymore.

Christians have had this notion since Genesis, when the ONE true God said, Let US make man in OUR image... But to the sheltered Koreans who are not permitted to hear such things, or any outside information, Kim himself suffices for Divine utterances.
