Don't feed the foxes!

I couldn't believe it. I've been out in Nature all my life, but I'd never seen a fox out in the open, in full knowledge of my presence, just enjoying a sun bath while I gawked. A man passing by remarked how sad it was that the foxes of this area are so cozy with humans. The reason of course is that humans are feeding them. Within months, as the humans move on to more indoor pursuits, some of these foxes will be dead, never having learned how to care for themselves.

Everything that happens to me these days is translated into the North Korean situation. I could not help but connect this fox thing to the feeding frenzy that the kinder nations of the world have been on as they keep propping up the fox of Pyongyang.

Is it loving to feed the poor? Always? Or does it just make the giver feel good? And when one gives money to a poor Korean, is he sure it is not going to line the government's pockets?

Did you know that the North Korean leadership has so much money that it has financed tyrants all over this planet? That they live as royalty? That some have called the President of that nation the wealthiest man on the planet?

We've got to quit feeding . He has learned to depend on us and eventually will bite the hand that meant him well. Let's be sure our gift can find its way into the mouth of a deserving citizen. Those avenues are few and narrow, but they do exist.

The "Idiot's Guide" about North Korea says things have improved since the horrible famine years of the 90's . The U.N. Nation's World Food Program reported in ‘02 that the proportion of underweight children had dropped from 61% in 1998 to 21% in 2002. The rate of acute malnutrition (wasting) had fallen from 16% to 9%.

"Food production has improved considerably since 1998, but still North Korea depends on several hundred thousand tons of imported food annually." South Korea and China are the main donators. U.S. and Japanese aid has declined.

The true famine is caused by lack of the Bread made in Heaven. We know that when people are filled in this way, everything else they need will be provided. (Matthew 6:33)

Meanwhile, no food for the foxes.
