The children of NK: carefully taught

Time for our next history lesson.

We're in the late 70's. North Korea is still trying to expand, but is finding it difficult in a divided land. The peninsula's northern minerals and southern grains had at one time been a perfect complement insuring wealth throughout the nation. But the powers that be have decided there shall be two independent Koreas. No grains in the North. No metals in the South.

Towns begin to grow up throughout the nation that are merely miniature Pyongyangs, forced into conformity. Men are in suits. Children are marched to and from school in uniforms. A true police state.

The education system that begins to form is the key to future years, as in every country. Out of 1979's 17 million persons, nearly 8 million are in some level of education: a nursery, a regular school, a post-secondary school. At merely a few weeks old, a child is compelled to begin his government training. Though children tend to be "normal" in many ways, the academic food they are force-fed all their lives is meant to produce little Kims in thinking process.

Only 1-2 hours per day are spent with Mom. Preschoolers learn, instead of nursery rhymes and family values and morals, the strange stories of Kim Il Sung's childhood and how to bow to his picture. According to Kim, the "primary aim of education lies in training people to faithfully serve the existing social system." Most nations grudgingly admit that that is what education does. But when your nation is a slave state whose mindless pedagogy creates robots and not humans, the tragedy is even worse.

It was Engels who said that we must "prevent the old ideas of their parents from exerting influence on children's minds." Surely in Kim's thinking one of those "old ideas" is Pyongyang's Christian past. His attempt to stamp out Christ by replacing Him with himself has brought on the untold suffering of the Korean people.

Thus we pray, Lord, change the history of this place! Lord, let the people of God rotting in Kim's gulag rise up and do mighty exploits! Christ, anointed and coming King over all the earth, let your reign in the hearts of many North Koreans be established!

General outline of history following B. Martin's Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader.
