Acts 8:5: Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
Philip went where he went and preached who preached due to the power of God the Father and Christ the King working in him through the Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus said who his servants would preach and where they would preach him, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth" (Acts 1:8.) Now we know that There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all (Ephesians 4:4-6.) The power of God is exercised within his messengers which constrains them to go where he sends them. His power is exalted in the message they preach. In Christ, the righteousness of God in being just and the justifier of chosen sinners is manifest. God's power recreates a new man within his redeemed wherein he reveals Christ and wherein they are made to irresistibly hear. In power they are given one faith whereby they are shut up to believe him. By his power they willingly confess Christ in one baptism. This is the result of one God and Father of all, above all, through all, working in all in power. Therefore, it is a denial of the power of God to embrace any other truth than the fact that all God's elect are saved through one gospel, the gospel of Christ.
It would have done no good whatsoever for Philip to go into Samaria preaching morality because that is exactly what the Pharisees preferred to be preached instead of Christ. Most of what today's religion calls "the believer's responsibility" is a lie to soothe the offended conscious of those who hate for God to receive all the glory. Much of what goes under the banner "balanced ministry" is a cloak for the inordinate evil lust whereby man walks away with some new work he can endeavor to achieve for himself. That was the constant sorcery used by the Pharisees, even Simon Magnus that had for a long time bewitched the people of Samaria. The believer knows that the promises made by God in the eternal council were made sure in Christ Jesus the Lord therefore to preach the whole council of God we must preach Christ's holy person and finished work of redemption.
But Philip not only did not preach another gospel because it would have done the people no good, under the power and dominion of Christ, Philip could do nothing, and wanted to do nothing, but preach Christ. God's messengers have gone to seminary under the teaching of THE VOICE so by his power they desire no other choice and want no other choice but to heed him. The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: ...O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God! (Isaiah 40: 6, 9.)
Philip came having received a message from Christ at Zion and brought good tidings, saying, "All flesh is grass; Behold your God!" That is what it is to preach Christ. That is what God's ambassador's do. Those who are filled with power from the Holy Spirit, sent by Christ, have no other choice and want no other choice than to preach him for whom they are ambassadors in a strange country. (Joh 5:39; Acts 17:1-3; I Cor 15: 3-4.)
