What We Say We Believe

On the way home from work today, (yes I'm still in India) I was thinking about this Blog. I thought that most commentary I personally like to read is usually, although not always, serious. This got me thinking about why I never write about anything that is meaningful or serious to me. Why do I always tend to write about funny things, or things that I find funny, or things that I think you will find funny.

So I have decided to write about something that I am very passionate about, yet few people, besides my wife, know about me. Before I say exactly what that is, I want to start at the beginning or at least a revised version of the beginning.

Before moving back to Henderson, I felt that my life had come to an end, so to speak. In my mind I started feeling that I needed to make some necessary changes. I felt I was still living a reckless life, and no good was going to come out of it. Now. . . the last place I wanted to be, was the first place I chose to be. I know now that that choice really was no choice at all but GOD leading me to him.

Now let me say this.......I know that we all have, to some degree, an idea of what we think or what we perceive God to be. Some simply think that he is whatever they think he is. Some think that no one really knows. So long as you think he exists, that's great.

But my belief has substance. I believe in the God of the Bible. You might be asking yourself, "what does he mean?" "Who is the God of the Bible?" Well . . . that can be a pretty long answer! But before I even attempt to touch on that, I need to say that I am referring to "The God," not "a god!" There is a difference!

Many of us come from different backgrounds, different denominations. But the one thing Christians have is The Bible! So what does it say about GOD? You would think that one text would result in one denomination, but religion has taken the Bible and made it to mean what Man wants it to mean and not what God said it means. The funny thing is, God tells us in His word that this has always been the case, throughout all history.

So, what does it say? Well, it says God is in control of all things. Not some things but ALL THINGS! It says that he made the heavens and the Earth and everything in them! It says he does everything according to his own will and consults no one. It says there is no one else to consult! The God of the Bible is sovereign, which simply means he's GOD! The God of the Bible declares this from the first verse to the last. It seems pretty simple, right?

It also says that Jesus is the Christ. The Son of God was God on Earth in Human Flesh, the GOD-MAN. God humiliated himself to come down from his throne of Mercy and Grace to live here with sinful, undeserving men like myself! Isn't that amazing? The entire Bible is a Him-Book! Every verse is about Jesus Christ.

So if every verse is about Christ what does it say about him? It says believe on Him! That's it! Believe on Jesus, he is God! How can it be that simple? Well in order to believe in Him you have to know who He is! Pray that God will gives you the desire now to learn who he is! Search the scriptures, and most importantly don't believe a lie! God is Able to save to the uttermost! He's God!!!!!!

We get so caught up in all the things of this world, that we don't look to Christ who is the answer to all things! He is the way and the light.

I wrote all this because I see so many friends looking for something that will never bring them peace. I hear a lot of people say how great their Church service was, but hardly do I ever hear anyone talk about Christ!

My prayer to God is that someone might read this and gain some interest in learning who God really is!!!!! Not the God man has made up, but the God of the Bible. Who He is and where He is!

God was pleased to reveal his son to me when I was in no way ever looking for Christ, neither did I have any interest in Christ! Salvation is of God and God alone, I had nothing to do with it. I did the sinning and Christ did the Saving! If the entire Bible is about Christ then our belief should only be about Christ!

I hope this doesn't sound like some religious whack job. Those of you that know me, know me! I want my friends and family to know that there is a difference in the Jesus preached today and the one declared in the Bible. Pray that God gives us the Grace in this day to see the difference!

Last but not least the Bible says "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God." So . . . if anyone is interested in hearing someone who preaches the God of the Bible here is a link: http://www.sermonaudio.com/source_detail.asp?sourceid=freegraceradio
