Having been down here in the Lower 48 States since 23 January 2008, and after having repeated many of the medical tests, MRI's and EMG's, an official diagnosis is still on hold. The prognosis, however, at this time is that I may have a rare form of ALS that is of a slow onset and deteriorates at a very slow rate. It may not show up on the EMG (electromyogram) for a year or two. My symptoms, though intermittent, have not disappeared but typical of ALS symptoms, as nearly every other possible cause has been eliminated.
My symptoms (though intermittent and occasional) are:
weakness in my legs, and especially my left arm fatigue in my muscles, especially in my hands and feet cramps in hands and feet dexterity and coordination disfunction muscle twitching
We have been blessed to be seen by several neurologists, including one of the top ALS specialists on the west coast. We have been even more blessed by the prayers lifted up for us.
With some medication, I've been blessed to continue ministry in whatever way I can. It was a blessing to have the opportunity to speak on the Lord's Supper at the invitation of Pastor Harold Anderson of Higher Ground Calvary Chapel in Moreno Valley.
My family and I are excited to see what ministry opportunity the Lord opens up to us next, whether it is to stay here in the Lower 48 states, or return to Alaska. Only God knows and we are blessed to submit to His sovereign will.
Thank you all for your prayers and encouragement.
I am ever...
at the Cross and in God's Word by His sovereign grace,
I check nearly daily to see if you have added any sermons/teachings. I have listened to "Counting the Cost" several times and am so blessed that you have counted the cost and continue following our Saviour. My prayers continue for you, Lisa, and Rachel. love in Christ, Lynne
Praise God that He has counted you worthy to suffer for His glory. And praise God that He has left you here to bring more glory to the church and more glory to His Son. Thank God the Holy Spirit can use your wonderful experiences you have walked to our minds as we follow up the path.
