Acts 13: 38: Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: 39: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. 40: Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets. 41: Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

WHAT A PROMISE!
Psalm 23: 1: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
What a promise! What a glorious inheritance! What a blessed comfort! Walk in it, believer; lie down upon it; trust in it; rest upon it. It will do for all the days of your life and be a soft pillow for your death. When the news is not good, when your body is tired, when disappointment and doubts fill your mind, when the flesh is weary and weak and you lie upon your bed staring into the sleepless darkness asking yourself, "What shall I do?" hum to yourself these blessed words, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." Those words will be like a lullaby to your soul, and you will find rest.
Pastor Henry Mahan

ALL MY SALVATION
Psalm 73: 25: Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
All my salvation-sin pardoned, my person justified and accepted in all the acceptability of His person, washed from all impurity, put among the children of God with an "I will and thou shalt," kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation--is of the Lord. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him, and His covenant is to make them know it. When this is known and felt, the desire of the soul is after Him and Him alone. When Christ is seen in His beauty, grace, and suitability, our hearts pant after Him. He is our hope, our longing, expectation, and desire; nothing but Him will satisfy. And even though the world, the flesh, and the devil are dead set against us, and trouble brings my poor heart to ache, yet my cry is "whom have I in heaven but Thee? and there is none upon earth I desire beside Thee."
Pastor Scott Richardson

I John 2:15:...LOVE NOT THE WORLD!
Nothing is more dangerous to the souls of men than the love of the world. Nothing more effectually chokes out the influence of the gospel in a man's heart than the cares of this world. Nothing is more difficult to avoid than an undue attachment to this world. Therefore John sets these four words up as a beacon. They stand in blazing letters to warn us of great danger. "LOVE NOT THE WORLD:"

Beloved, this world and all that it offers is no more than a bubble that soon must burst. Your money, your farms, your houses, your influence, your families, everything here is temporary. It will all vanish away. We laugh at the small child who cries when the bubbles he is playing with burst. But, for a rational man to be so attached to a bubble is a most irrational thing.

Are you God's child? Are you risen with Christ? Do you live in the hope of eternal glory? Then count this world to be a dead thing. Live no longer for this world. Set your heart on things above. Live above this pile of rubbish that must soon burn. Live to do the will of God, seek the glory of Christ, further the gospel of the grace of God, and serve the people of God. Quit seeking those things for which unbelieving men live; and seek those things which are above: life, immortality, and glory. "If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." May the Lord God graciously burn these words into your heart and mine - "LOVE NOT THE WORLD!"
Don Fortner is pastor of Grace Baptist Church of Danville.

IT SHALL BE WELL WITH THEM
Isaiah 3: 10: Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
There are none righteous in themselves, but there is a multitude of which it can be said, "They believed God and it was counted unto them for righteousness." To them, and only to them does this blessed comfort go, "It shall be well with them."

It shall be well with them at all times. Day or night, any season, work or play, it shall be well with them. It shall be well with them in all circumstances. It may not always be pleasant, but it shall always be well. It is as well with them upon their deathbed as upon the familiar pillow of their bedroom. Whether they travel by land, sea or air, it shall be well with them. In wartime as well as peacetime, it shall be well with them. It shall be well with them regardless of their weaknesses and failures.

Is today a day of seeming victory and advancement in the things of God? It shall be well with them. Is today a day of seeming defeat and retreat in those same matters: it shall still be well with them! It shall be well with them no matter how it is with anyone else. "A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand, but it shall not come nigh thee" (Ps. 91:7.)

But most of all, say to the righteous, those sinners who trust the Lord Jesus, that in that day when God shall unleash the pent‑up fury of Divine wrath on this world and the inhabitants thereof, when God shall judge this entire world by Jesus Christ, when many an outwardly righteous man along with the obviously wicked and perverse of this world shall be bound hand and foot and cast into the lake of fire that in that day, IT SHALL BE WELL WITH THEM!
