Christ Did Not Die in Vain

“And this is the Father's will which hath sent me,

that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing

but should raise it up again at the last day.” (John 6:39)

Although many hear the message of the cross and pass by in unbelief, we have this confidence: the LORD will have every sinner for whom He shed His blood. It is certain that He did not die for every single sinner. He said, "Of all that the Father hath given Me, I should lose nothing." There is an innumerable number, who by His Almighty Grace, shall be brought to look to Him as the Blessed Redeemer and cling to Him as the Hope of their souls because He purchased them, putting away their sin and justifying them once and for all at the cross.

Isaiah declared, "He shall see of the travail of His soul and be satisfied." (Isaiah 53:11) He will, in the day of His power, make them willing to embrace the LORD Jesus as ALL their salvation, Psalm 110:3. They may now be hardened in sin but He will break their hearts, bend their knees and make them run to Christ according to His good pleasure! Salvation is of our LORD in the planning, procuring and performing of it. "Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6)

The complete justification of sinners at the cross is the central message of the Gospel, as revealed throughout the Scriptures. God justifying those He chose from before the foundation of the world, is a one-time, once-for-all declaration of complete righteousness. Each one He chose unconditionally has been given to His Son to pay their sin debt through His obedience unto death, Romans 5:9-11. The Scriptures teach us that Christ earned and established righteousness by His perfect obedience to God’s law and justice, then laid down His life in perfect submission to God the Father. So complete was His obedience that only righteousness remained to be imputed to the Spiritual account of each of His elect, upon the completion of Christ’s obedience unto death. By that one obedience unto death, God the Father has fully, freely and forever accepted and approved each chosen and redeemed sinner, Ephesians 1:6-7. Immediately and simultaneously, all of the elect were declared righteous, then and there.

"If there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law." (Galatians 3:21) The justification of sinners, from beginning to end, is by the free Grace of God, through the life, the one death and the one righteousness of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, apart from any work, act of the will or warrant in the sinner. It is all of God by the death of the LORD Jesus and therefore sure!
