Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe. I assume that most who read this post are familiar with the trouble that has been taking place in England for the past little while. The governments of the past few years have not protected the borders of England. There has been a massive influx of illegals coming into the country. They have not come there to become part of the British system. They have come there to change Britain into another Muslim country. They have been quite successful in their efforts.
There have been reports of immorality taking place by the illegal immigrants against the women of England. There have also been killings taking place.
The ‘officials’ are afraid of these illegals and they have catered to this group of people who want to remake the entire nation. The ‘officials’ do not seem to understand that they will be kicked out of their places of power when the illegals become well enough organized. We have not heard what affect all this noise has had on the born again Christians in England.
Those of us who live in Canada can look at what is taking place in England and we can see that the spirit of unrest is growing stronger in our own country as well. The ‘officials’ in this country are also afraid to uphold the laws of this country and they are allowing the Muslim community to grow stronger. The Muslims are not afraid to speak their mind. They are not interested in becoming part of this country. They want to take over this country. The history of Islam has been to overthrow any form of government that does not conform to their ungodly standards.
All of this is taking place because more and more countries are openly defying the true God. Thus far there is still some tolerance for true Christianity in Canada. We know that during the Wuhan debacle, the ‘officials’ experimented with trying to force churches to shut down. There were a few churches that got into the news for not shutting down. Some of their leaders spent time in prison and some received quite large fines. Some are still waiting to see if they will be summoned to court.
Among all the reports of those who have been fined or arrested, there are only very few that actually believe in the true God. Most have a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.
II Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
The Scriptures teach us that those who walk in the fear of the Lord will face persecution. Some will be imprisoned. Others will face different forms of persecution. The Bible also tells us that there needs to be a purifying within the house of God.
I Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
God’s desire is to see people saved. God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. He wants all to come to repentance and be saved. He does not force anyone to be saved. He gives all the opportunity to be saved. He gives ample warning of the danger of rejecting God’s offer of salvation.
In our opening verse we are reminded that the fear of man brings a snare. Those who bow to the fear of man put themselves in bondage to man. They put themselves in a very insecure place. The mind of man changes often. We can see that in our governments in our own country. Not that many years ago people were being charged with possession of marijuana. Now it is legal to have that poison and to use it. Stores are licensed to sell it. Growers are licensed to grow it. This is just one example of many.
God has not changed His mind on sin and holiness. He has always given very clear commands. No one has ever been able to rightly accuse God of not being clear in what He expects of man. There is safety in trusting in the Lord. In the midst of the increasing chaos in our world, those who are saved have a stedfast hope.
II Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
The fear that has engulfed many people is not of God. It is of the devil. It is the result of not knowing the true God. When a person builds his life on fictitious standards, there is no certainty. There will always be challenges facing anyone who sets some type of standards. Even our ungodly governments face challenges. The difference is that our governments have the police and the courts on their side. The citizens are pawns to be used to fund the extravagance of the governments.
In spite of this fact, those who trust in the Lord are safe. Jesus stated:
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
It is far better to know the One Who controls the destiny of your soul, than to trust in the one who can only destroy this body. Our earthly bodies will either be destroyed at death or changed at the rapture. All true saints will receive new bodies when they enter heaven. These earthly bodies that we have are just temporary. Some of us are becoming more and more aware of this fact. Our bodies are wearing out. However, the soul of the saint grows stronger and stronger.
The fear of man will get in the way of being a faithful witness for the Lord. It will hinder us from knowing the peace of God in our hearts. Trusting in the Lord will set the saint free to know His peace and to serve Him faithfully.
