"And Jesus said to him, ‘Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.’”
The prosperity gospel is a lie: Jesus never preached it. He never said that people would gain the world, and he didn’t demonstrate it by how he lived. His Father sent him to suffer and die - to bear the reproach of many - and he accomplished this successfully. He did the will of the Father, no matter the costs, and this is our life too.
If through diligence or inheritance, he makes us rich in this world, then so be it. Praise God and give. 1 Timothy 6:18 - "They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share," Many do not give who have the means, but it is blessed to give in thanksgiving, not covetousness, so that we can help others, rather than heap up riches ourselves.
If he makes us poor through famine, circumstances, and his own wisdom, then so be it. Let us work so that we may give also, following the example of the Macedonians, who were a poor and afflicted church, overflowing with joy and generosity. 2 Corinthians 8:2 - "for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part." Care nothing for it [1 Cor 7:21]. You are rich in Christ, and have all things. James 1:9 - "Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation,"
Access to the Father isn’t based on wealth but on the precious blood of Christ, which every believer has equally, whether rich or poor. We can all be rich in good works, because he hears our prayer, and he will answer us. Let us not sweat the small things, but possessing the true riches, let us press into the Father’s bosom for grace to know him and make him known. He will give us this for Christ’s sake.
Those who promise you house and car are liars, because God never did. He never gave prosperity to his Son. If they promise you husband, they are only playing the odds: they don’t know what tomorrow holds. James 4:15 - "Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that."" When they say you won’t die or get sick, then visit the graveyard, and see how many have said “amen,” to their lies.
Do not be misled. God’s kingdom is not of this world, but it is TRULY RICH and satisfying; it is peace in the heart, and the knowledge of God. Deliverance from lies is worth its weight in diamonds, yes, it is to be favored over all the riches in the world, because what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
Do not be deceived by them! They do not decree riches for themselves! They go to work for your money: They zealously open assemblies, advertise, and multiply calls for donations. They are Satan’s great salesmen, hawking their false gospel and peddling lies for profit. They do not rest, but send out minions to collect others so they can give. They even flaunt their riches to entice you to give more! The poorer ones sneak into inboxes and all call old widows to manipulate and beg! They are greedy covetous dogs who cumber the earth, and their judgment doesn’t slumber. Isaiah 56:11 - "The dogs have a mighty appetite; they never have enough. But they are shepherds who have no understanding; they have all turned to their own way, each to his own gain, one and all." They are hardened in conscience and against God. Do not join them in their fearlessness: Reverence God and live. Fear getting the gospel wrong!
