Esther 6:10 Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.
11 Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
12 And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered.
13 And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.

Yesterday something very important took place. I suppose most reading this have been following the events in the Middle East. The important news is coming from that part of the world. Iran has launched a massive attack against Israel. Iran has been behind the attacks of Hamas and Hezbollah and now they have entered directly into the conflict.
This morning it was reported that this current attack is over. After more than 300 rockets and drones were sent towards Israel, only minor damage was reported. Apparently it took 8 hours for the rockets to reach Israel. Iran is not done yet. The U.S. is telling Israel not to respond. The U.S. has funded the Iranian regime under Obama and now under Biden. As we have mentioned before, this conflict will not end until the Lord returns.
This current event is again a reminder of the tense situation in the Middle East. This affects the rest of the world as well. We are seeing Western powers tiptoeing around this event, not wanting to be seen as too friendly to Israel and more supportive of Islam. Islam threatens the stability of the West. Israel is not interested in destabilizing the West. The West is catering to Islam out of fear. The Bible warns that the fear of man brings a snare. The fear of God provides peace and safety. The world today is not interested in peace with God. A few saints are and we are a part of that which hinders the wickedness of the devil to be able to enter its next phase. God is in charge and He will work all things for His glory.
As we continue our study of the book of Esther, it is important to note that Persia is modern day Iran. Islam was not around in the days of Esther, but the root of Islam can be traced all the way back to Nimrod and the tower of Babel. The Muslims have developed this further and they are intent on controlling the world. Of course they are not the only ones that want to control the world. The WEF and the WHO is also intent on controlling the world. The role-out of the Wuhan Virus was an attempt to gain control of the world. The “climate change” hoax is also an attempt to put man under the thumb of a few wicked people. The timing is not right and thus God has not allowed that to happen just yet. However, events are moving along according to God’s timetable. For those who are lost, whether the Lord returns soon, or a thousand or more years from now, you are without hope without the Lord. Turn to Him today and be saved.
As we have been studying the book of Esther it should be obvious to all that are following these devotionals, that God is in charge. He does not force anyone to believe in Him, but He also does not allow the devil to run roughshod over the world and do as he pleases. God limits the evil so that others might come to know the truth.
In our text, we see that Haman’s hopes of being paraded through the streets of Sushan and hailed as a great man blew apart. Instead, he needed to take his enemy, Mordecai the Jew, through the streets and use him as an example of how the king treats those in whom he delights.
Haman was very upset with this turn of events. How could this ever have happened. For one thing, Haman was too full of himself and he did not know of the plot to attack the king earlier. Mordecai heard of the plot and he notified Esther who notified the king.
Haman’s vanity kept him from being of any good to the kingdom.
After Haman’s humiliation here in this event he had planned for himself, Mordecai went back to sit in the king’s gate. Haman went home to complain to his wife and “friends”. Things were certainly not going as he had planned. He had the gallows ready to hang Mordecai on, but how could he get the king to agree to hang the man he had just honoured. Furthermore, the time of the next banquet was fast approaching and there was no time to consider hanging Mordecai now.
Haman’s wife and vain friends had some words of wisdom for Haman. They were not encouraging words, but they were true words. Mordecai was a Jew, and he was now seen as a good man in the eyes of the king. If Mordecai had such respect for the king and was willing to expose a plot to do harm to the king, how could he or his people be worthy of death? Haman had a real problem on his hands.
Haman’s wife and friends saw the ‘writing on the wall’. Haman was in trouble with the king. Worldly friends are quite fickle. They might be your friend today, but there is no loyalty there. They will turn their back on you if the circumstances require it. Remember, lost people are all about self. They want what they believe to be best for themselves first of all. If you are their friend, but you stand in the way of their plans, they will destroy you in a moment.
We have just begun to see the fall of Haman. His fall would be with a very hard thud just as that of Goliath in an earlier time.

Proverbs 10:8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.

Being wise is a choice we must make. No one is born wise. Only those who turn to God in repentance and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation can be wise. They need to draw from His wisdom. It is important to choose wisdom and seek to glorify God. Haman did not know how to do that. He was not interested in truth. There did not seem to be any godly Jews left in Persia at this time to help him to see the need to know the truth. Mordecai was not able to help him, nor was Esther. What a shame to have the opportunity to know the truth and be a voice of reason, and to squander that all just for convenience sake. That seems to be what Mordecai was all about.
Today is the Lord’s Day. It is the day that God has given us to go to a good church and learn the truth. Make it a point to be in a good church today so that you can hear and learn the truth. You will never be sorry.
