My front yard in the month of August is usually a desert of brown- dry, crunchy, brown grass. Our lives are like that grass of the field. “As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth” Psa. 103:15.
And yet God shows generous favor…
“He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth” Psa. 72:6.
“Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field” Zech. 10:1.
And tender care…
“Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things” Matthew 6:30-32.
And most importantly, in contrast to our temporary physical existence, He provides the security of the eternal.
What is our hope for eternity?
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: but the word of the Lord endureth forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you” 1 Pet. 1:23-25.
Wherefore…
“… Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” Matt. 6:33.
What are your cares?
*Worry is unfaithful to our Master and Creator.
*Worry is unnecessary because of Who our Father is.
*Worry is unreasonable because of God’s promises and provision.
*Worry is un-useful to the future.
Therefore…
Take no anxious thought!
