"Rejoice In Thee"
"Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?" (Psalm 85:6)
When the religious world talks about revival they mean an emotional series of meetings that will win souls and get back-
slidden church members to rededicate their lives to an impotent Jesus. But the psalmist prays and asks the Lord; "Wilt Thou
not revive us again?" I believe we desperately need for God to revive us...to stir up our hearts...to awaken us out of our stupor. To keep us from just going through the motions when we meet together...to please not let us be mechanical in our services. O God revive us...save us from our presumptions of "we must be alright, after all we have the right doctrine, we have a preacher and a good building to meet in, we know we are sinners and Christ is the only Saviour...so we are all fine." Will you please cause our hearts to burn within us over love for our Lord Jesus? Will you please teach us to pray from our hearts? Will you please give us a burden for the word of the Lord? Would you please wean us from the world...from self-seeking . . . from materialism. . . wanting to be recognized...and from our vainglory? O Lord revive us—give us the Spirit that quickens us when we meet...that will keep our minds from wandering...and worrying about things that in the end don't matter. Will you revive us so that our relationship with you and the Son of your love will mean more to us than anything else in this world? Then we will truly "rejoice in thee" (Psalm 85:6). – Donald Bell
“The God Of All Grace” – 1 Peter 5:10
What hope of salvation can this sinner have apart from the God of all grace? What reason can I possibly have of entering heaven besides the God of all grace? Only grace that is free, reigning, abounding gives mesuch a hope. Nothing else can. Thank God his grace is greater than all my sin, and his grace is sufficient to keep me from falling and to present me without fault before the throne of God. What great grace this must be. And that is exactly what grace is, the great grace of the great God. And that is what gives this sinner a good hope, because it comes to me freely from the God of all grace. I can rest here, I can have peace here, and I can hope in the God of all grace. – Larry Criss
In happy moments praise God. In difficult moments, seek God. In quiet moments, worship God. In every moment, thank God. – Marvin Stalnaker
Incomparable Christ
HE came from the bosom of the Father to the bosom of a woman. He put on humanity that we might put on divinity. He became Son of Man that we might become sons of God. He was born contrary to the laws of nature, lived in poverty, was reared in obscurity, and only once crossed the boundary of the land in childhood. He had no wealth or influence, and had neither training nor education in the world’s schools. His relatives were inconspicuous and non-influential.
In infancy He startled a king; in boyhood He puzzled the learned doctors; in manhood He ruled the course of nature. He walked upon the billows and hushed the sea to sleep. He healed the multitudes without medicine and made no charge for His services. He never wrote a book, yet all the libraries of the country could not hold the books that have been written about Him. He never wrote a song, yet He has furnished the theme for more songs than all songwriters together have. He never founded a college yet all the schools together cannot boast of as many students as He has. He never practiced medicine, and yet He healed more broken hearts than doctors have healed broken bodies.
He is the Star of astronomy, the Rock of geology, the Lion and the Lamb of zoology, the Harmonizer of all discords and the Healer of all diseases. Great men have come and gone, yet He lives on. Herod could not kill Him: Satan could not seduce Him; death could not destroy Him; the grave could not hold Him.
He was rich yet for our sake became poor. How poor? Ask Mary. Ask the wise men. He slept in another’s manger; He cruised the lake in another’s boat; He rode on another man’s foal; He was buried in another man’s tomb. Yet, He is the ever perfect One, the chiefest among ten thousand. He is altogether lovely (Song of Solomon 5:16). – author unknown
