GRADUATES: Three of our young people have graduated from High School. Emma Holland, Abigail Hudson, and Luke Montgomery. We are thankful to our Lord for bringing you this far and pray His great grace upon you in days ahead. May the Lord watch over you, lead you and guide you all the days of your lives. “In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” – Proverbs 3:6
Jehovah Is Known By The Judgment Which He Executeth – Psalm 9:16
The LORD’s holiness and abhorrence of sin is displayed by His judgment against it. A ruler who winked at evil would soon be known by all his subjects to be evil himself, and he, on the other hand, who is severely just in judgment reveals his own nature thereby. So long as our God is God, he will not, he cannot spare the guilty; except through that one glorious way in which he is just, and yet the justifier of him that believeth in Jesus. We must notice, secondly, that the manner of his judgment is singularly wise, and indisputably just. He makes the wicked become their own executioners. "The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made," etc. Like cunning hunters they prepared a pitfall for the godly and fell into it themselves: the foot of the victim escaped their crafty snares, but the toils surrounded themselves: the cruel snare was laboriously manufactured, and it proved its efficacy by snaring its own maker. Persecutors and oppressors are often ruined by their own malicious projects. "Drunkards kill themselves; prodigals beggar themselves;" the contentious are involved in ruinous costs; the vicious are devoured with fierce diseases; the envious eat their own hearts; and blasphemers curse their own souls. Thus, men may read their sin in their punishment. They sowed the seed of sin, and the ripe fruit of damnation is the natural result. – Spurgeon
Quotes
-- "Whatsoever is good for God's children they shall have it, for all is theirs to further them to heaven; therefore, if poverty be good, they shall have it; if disgrace be good, they shall have it; if trials be good, they shall have them; if misery be good, they shall have it; for all is ours, to serve for our greatest good." ~ Richard Sibbes
-- "God knows we have nothing of ourselves, therefore in the covenant of grace he requires no more than he gives, but gives what he requires, and accepts what he gives." ~ Richard Sibbes
-- "Oh despise not election! therein lies all your hope, that there is a remnant who shall infallibly be saved." ~ Thomas Goodwin
-- "The Indwelling of Christ by faith is to have Jesus Christ continually in one’s eye, a habitual sight of Him. I call it so because a man actually does not always think of Christ; but as a man does not look up to the sun continually, yet he sees the light of it. So you should carry along and bear along in your eye the sight and knowledge of Christ, so that at least a presence of Him accompanies you, which faith makes." ~ Thomas Goodwin
-- "What is the cause of all God's purposes towards us? Himself. There is no other cause." ~ Thomas Goodwin
-- "In Christ are treasures that will require digging to the end of the world." ~ Thomas Goodwin
-- "Has God decreed all things that come to pass? Then there is nothing that falls out by chance, nor are we to ascribe what we meet with either to good or ill luck and fortune. There are many events in the world which men look upon as mere accidents, yet all these come by the counsel and appointment of Heaven." ~ Thomas Boston
-- "No work nor deed of ours whatsoever, no not faith itself, can be the condition of the covenant of grace properly so called; but only Christ's fulfilling all righteousness." ~ Thomas Boston
