Christ Coming to His People
“Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me.”
(Psalm 40:7)
The LORD Jesus says to His people: ‘Lo I come.’ Graciously and joyfully in their need He comes for them and to them. There are 4 ways described in the Bible that Christ comes to and for His own.
1. His coming in the flesh: What a joyful and delightful errand this is to be the sacrifice of Divine Justice for all His people. This is the Foundation Head of joy for all His redeemed. The same joy He had in coming in the flesh to redeem them, they share in return because of Him coming in the flesh on their behalf.
2. His coming in His Word: Through His Word, He calls out a people for Himself. His Word draws them to Him in saving Grace.
3. His coming in the Spirit: We cannot have a wonderful view of His coming in the flesh or the hope of His coming again unless we have Him coming to our heart to draw us, making us willing in the day of His power to see God’s full satisfaction in the travail of His soul for us, Isaiah 53:11.
4. His coming in clouds of glory, Mark 13:26: What a joyful coming for His people, to take them to Himself: “Even so, come, LORD Jesus.” (Revelation 22:20)
