Job 20:21 There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods. 22 In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him. 23 When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating. 24 He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steel shall strike him through. 25 It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors are upon him. 26 All darkness shall be hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle. 27 The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him. 28 The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath. 29 This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.
Zophar insisted that the wicked person would end up in poverty. No one would try to steal from him or be jealous of him because he would have nothing. In verse 22 he stated that the wicked would gang up against each other. It is true that wicked people cannot be trusted. They are very selfish and will step on anyone who gets in their way. Dr. Fauci demonstrates the nature of a wicked person. He has been implicated many times in working and funding the gain of function research that was used to develop the Wuhan virus. He has lied over and over again, even under oath, and nothing is being done about it. He does not care about the many people that have died due to his wicked plans and actions. He will face God’s justice one day soon. Zophar assumed that his description fit for Job. He was wrong in that. He was not God and he had no idea what he was talking about. He was trying to intimidate Job with his piety, but Job was not falling for it. This frustrated him and his two friends. In verses 23-25 Zophar spoke of the trouble that awaits the wicked. As we have mentioned before, Zophar should have had a mirror to look into while he spoke these words. He and his two friends were the ones in trouble with God. They were digging their pit deeper with every word that came out of their mouth. Their words demonstrated the evil that was in their hearts. As we have noted before, there are many wicked people who seem to do quite well for a time. Some of them die with good health and they leave much wealth behind. Family members talk of how they die so peacefully. The casual observer would think that they were headed for their form of heaven and they just kind of slipped out of this life and into that eternal bliss many dream of. Wise people look beyond what the physical eye can see. Wise people have the Word of God as their authority. They use righteous judgment. There are godly people who finish life in relative physical ease and there are others who suffer greatly prior to death. Job was suffering at the present, but he would end his life in peace and with great monetary blessings. He would live long enough to see four generations of his new family. The life of Job certainly did not fit the predictions of Zophar. It is a good thing that we can know the truth. We have enough light to be able to know the truth and discern the lies. Sadly, many are choosing to believe lies and reject the truth. Job was not one of them. Zophar continued his false ideas in verses 26-28. He was so sure that he was right. He assumed that if he painted a bleak enough picture for Job, he could break him. There is a judgment coming. The Bible declares that the wicked will stand at the great white throne judgment and their “works” will be revealed. They will be shown in public why they are going to be cast into the lake of fire for all eternity. All the wicked will know why they will be in that dreaded place. The righteous will stand at the judgment seat of Christ. They will be examined as God’s children. Some will be there, saved though as by fire. Others will lose some rewards and others will gain rewards. None of those will be in danger of being cast into the lake of fire. The time to determine your eternal destiny is now, in this life. No preacher can preach a person into heaven. No preacher can preach a person out of heaven. The judge is Jesus Christ. The only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ.
John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Heaven is the place for the righteous. The lost will appear before the Lord, but not in God’s dwelling place. They will never enter that place. No sin can enter heaven. God’s people deal with facts. They do not function on a superficial, emotional level. They have emotions. Job was struggling with life. He was frustrated with his lot. He was demanding that God answer him. He had some things to learn. However, he was not so foolish as to abandon God for the lies of these men. In verse 29 Zophar concluded his rant by claiming that God would do all of the above to Job. He was sure that he had God’s blessing on his words. He should have checked with God before enlisting His name on his false ideas. It is always wise to search the Scriptures and make sure you have the facts before claiming that God said a certain thing. We can search the Scriptures and know the truth. If we are saved, we can also understand God’s Word properly. We can “rightly divide the word of truth.” Zophar and his three friends were not doing that. Some people treat false teaching as another type of truth. The multiplicity of religions proves that. It is important that we go beyond opinions when it comes to spiritual matters. Opinions will interfere with God’s truth. We need humility to carefully study God’s Word and let Him show us the truth. We can speak with certainty on many things if we allow God to provide that certainty through His Word. He will not give anyone a dream or a vision today. He has already given us His Word. His Word is truth. Follow that and be saved and then serve Him as one of the few saved people who can enjoy His blessings. Pastor Bartel
