God willing, Rev. Ian Brown will be preaching on the subject, 'The Golden Compass - An Avenue To Atheism' this Lord's Day morning.
This will take the form of a warning against a film that is due for release in the UK on 5 December (USA on 7 December), based on the first book in a trilogy of children's books by prize-winning author Philip Pullman.
While assurances have been given that the film has been toned down in content with respect to the book on which it is based, there is no doubt that the release of the film will attract many new readers to Pullman's books. This set of three books not only replaces good with evil, but ultimately leads to the killing of God.
