“Coffee with Christ”

(John 21:15)

“So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?”

Simon Peter had denied The Lord three times after telling Him the he loved him more than the other disciples did. He is now standing before The Lord having his feet held to the fire that he had built. The Lord asks him three times, the same amount of times he had denied Him, Peter do you love Me? The first time Jesus used the word Agape, The Love of God! Basically saying, Peter, do you love me with the Love God Loved you with when He sent Me into the world to die for you? Peter answers, Lord, You know that I love You, but he used a different word, Phileo, a word meaning brotherly love. He said, Lord, I like you a lot! This took place again the second time, Peter do you Love Me with the Love My Father Loved you with when He sent Me into the world to die for you? Do you Love me like that Peter? Peter again says, Lord, I like you a lot. But the third time the Lord asks him using the same word Peter used. He asked, Peter do you Phileo me? Do you even like Me at all? Peter was grieved in his heart he asked him, do you even like Me?

Love is not what you say, Love is what you do! Are you loving The Lord with your lips but denying Him with your actions? Don’t go fishing to try to forget it! Crawl out on the bank and follow Him!
