CALL TO WORSHIP
For unto us a Child is born
To us a Son is giv’n
The government shall rest on Him
Th’ anointed One from Heav’n
His name is Wonderful, Counselor
The Mighty God is He
The Everlasting Father and
The humble Prince of Peace.
The increase of His government
And peace shall never end
He’ll reign on David’s ancient throne
As ruler of all men
Upheld with justice, righteousness
Forever His reign will last
The zeal of the Lord God Most High
Will bring these things to pass.
(Tune: “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear” p. 90)

CHRIST APPEARED IN THE FLESH
Is December 25th the birthday of our Lord Jesus? Certainly not. No one knows for certain the date of the Lord’s birth. The Lord would not allow us to make an idol out of the day. As a matter of fact, nowhere in scripture are we even told to celebrate the birth of our Lord. We are told to celebrate His death and His resurrection, but not His birth. But I sure am thankful that our Lord was born in the flesh. By man came sin so righteousness must come by another man. If the Son of God had not come in the flesh it would be impossible for any son of Adam to be saved. If Christ had not come in the flesh He would not have had a body to be sacrificed to put away the sin of His people. Thank God that the Lord Jesus Christ was indeed born of a virgin in Bethlehem!

“Christ Jesus, came into the world, to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” I Tim. 1:15.
If ignorance was our problem, a good teacher could help us. If worldliness and moral transgression was our problem, a good dose of religion could change that. If anxiety was our problem, the council of a therapist or the help of a drug might do the job. No, our problem is sin. It has infected every part of our being. Nothing but a Sovereign, Successful Savior will do. Give me Christ or I die.

THE GREATEST GIFT EVER GIVEN
“Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” - Galatians 1:4-5
The Gospel is not about the birth of Jesus. The glorious Gospel is about the death and sacrifice of God’s precious Son who gave Himself for His elect. Most people spend this Holiday Season buying gifts for one another without ever considering the GREATEST GIFT ever given, Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. God, in Christ gave His perfect righteousness to wretched, wicked and underserving sinners. “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” (2 Cor. 9:15)
Pastor David Eddmenson
WILL THERE BE REWARDS IN HEAVEN?
Will there be rewards in heaven? Will some have more crowns and bigger mansions than others? Absolutely not! Salvation is by grace. God did not save His people by grace on earth so we could brag about our works in eternity. God has saved His people for the glory of His Son. God has not saved us on earth and given us a heart to praise Christ on earth so that we can boast about ourselves and in heaven. Every believer will have the exact same reward in heaven: being made just like our Lord Jesus Christ and to be able to worship Him face to face for eternity.

A GOSPEL TO BELIEVE
The Gospel of God’s grace in Christ Jesus is not a thing to be proved, but a Truth to be believed. It is not submitted to our reasoning powers as a subject for critical examination. The Gospel is a MESSAGE FROM GOD, addressed to the conscience, feelings, and affections. For this reason, men fond of argument and proving everything by strictly logical deduction generally make very poor preachers. In the Scriptures, God does not argue. He proclaims!
