"For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you devoted to destruction. When we heard it, our hearts melted and no courage remained in any man any longer because of you; for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath." vs10-11
God is God. This is the revelation that God gives to everyone He saves.
First, Rahab is a harlot, but she obtained salvation; it is not denied to sinners. Joshua 2:1, “Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two men as spies from the Acacia Grove, saying, ‘Go and scout the land, especially Jericho.’ So they left, and they came to the house of a woman, a prostitute named Rahab, and stayed there.” All who come in repentance and faith are received. All who trust in Jesus are saved by this Mighty God, who has power in His hands. The blood of the cross has paid the price for sins - all sins - to be forgiven. Mark 3:28, “I assure you: People will be forgiven for all sins and whatever blasphemies they may blaspheme.” There is no sin too vile, and no sinner is too dirty for the Holy Spirit. He will cleanse from sin with the same power that resurrected Christ [Eph 1:19-20]. Romans 8:11, “And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then He who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through His Spirit who lives in you.” He'll make you holy indeed.
Secondly, Rahab was saved by recognition. “For we have heard…when we heard it.” She realized that God is God, and fighting Him is vain. He's got all power in His hands! He'll DO WITH US as He pleases, saving us or damning us at His will [Rom 9:11-24].
Our only hope is to obtain mercy. Sinners bow down, when Jesus is revealed as Lord. “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” They see God raised Him, because death could not hold Him [Acts 2:24]. He finished His work. Therefore, He is both Lord and Christ [Acts 2:36]. Therefore, we repent or perish. We turn or burn. Therefore, come to Him in faith, just like Rahab, choosing Christ. Forsake EVERYTHING and trust Him. He'll receive you and save you. God will be good to you!
Thirdly, Rahab recognized this at great cost to herself. Joshua 2:3, “Then the king of Jericho sent word to Rahab and said, ‘Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, for they came to investigate the entire land.’” She gave up everything to gain eternal life. She was spared and went on to spare others. Joshua 2:12-13, “Now please swear to me by the Lord that you will also show kindness to my family, because I showed kindness to you. Give me a sure sign that you will spare the lives of my father, mother, brothers, sisters, and all who belong to them, and save us from death.” She was saved and became a savior. She's in the bloodline of King Jesus - a great, great, great grandmother of the Son of God. Matthew 1:5-6, “Salmon fathered Boaz by Rahab, Boaz fathered Obed by Ruth, Obed fathered Jesse, and Jesse fathered King David.”
Oh, look at her now. Her life is made useful! She's gone from selling herself to a bride in the bloodline of Christ. God cleaned her up royally and turned a wasted life into a testimony. Hallelujah! Praise God for saving sinners.
Finally, draw near to this great God. He'll save you!
