I am sure that all of you have heard of the recent decision of the US Supreme Court to overturn Roe v Wade and turn abortion rights over to the states. Legally and Constitutionally, this was the correct decision. From the very beginning, Roe v Wade was a decision that was made on very shaky legal grounds and even the liberal Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg stated in 1992 that while she supported Abortion, she believed that it was on shaky legal ground and would eventually be overturned. Associate Justice Antonin Scalia had always argued that Roe v Wade was unconstitutional and should have been turned over to the states. While this is a great victory, there is still a great deal of work that needs to be done. While there are 13 states that have or will soon outlaw abortion on demand or at the very least make restrictions on abortion, there are still 37 states, including NC, that allow abortion and the murder of the unborn. In the state of NC, the murder of the unborn can occur until fetal viabilty. There have been of recent years, attempts by the GOP majority of the state Senate and House to restrict or even outlaw the murder of the unborn but either the law is defeated in committee or does not enough votes in the Senate or House. When it has had enough votes to pass, it has been vetoed by the liberal abortion promoter Governor Roy Cooper and if a measure is passed and his veto is overrode, the liberal Attorney General Josh Stein has gone on record of saying he will not enforce it. This makes the state of NC one of the most pro-abortion states in the Union. This needs to change. How do we as a believing people and support the life of the unborn, help to overturn this very immoral and wrong decision? First, pray. Pray that the Lord will melt and change the hearts of government leaders and medical professionals that support abortion. Also, pray for the passage of legislation that will outlaw the right to abortion, not only in NC, but the rest of the United States. Secondly, vote for and support candidates that are pro-life and will commit themselves to vote for pro-life legislation. Thirdly, contact your present NC Senators and House Representatives. Currently, the state Senate and House are not in session and this is an election year. Our districts are up for re-elections or new representatives of our districts. As we get closer to November, I will keep you posted on what candidates we must support and vote for. You can click on the following link and type in your address and it will give you the rundown of the candidates running for US Senate and House, NC Judges and NC Senate and House. |
