So a second time they summoned the man who had been blind and told him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner!” He answered, “Whether or not He’s a sinner, I don’t know. One thing I do know: I was blind, and now I can see!” vs24-25
The blind man will be cast out, because religion can’t handle the testimony of Christ. Newness of life that gives the Son glory is strange and unpalatable to them. No matter the offense, however, we keep preaching Jesus to the glory of God.
First, stick with your testimony. “One thing I do know: I was blind, and now I can see!” You might not know a lot, but you were blind and now see. You know that Jesus is the Christ. You don't have to be clever or delve into the mysteries. Men are convicted by your sight. You live a holy life. You have the joy and peace of forgiveness. You speak the truth about judgment to come.
Many are silenced for fear of inadequacy. It doesn’t have to be.
Secondly, ignorance of the Son is man's great flaw.
John 9:29 We know that God has spoken to Moses. But this man—we don’t know where He’s from!”
They know Moses, so they think, but he prophesied of Him. He is the great prophet, greater than Moses, and Him we must hear [Acts 4:22-23].
If scriptures don't lead us to Christ and faith in Him, then we are blind. We see rules but no gospel.
Thirdly, false religion is horrible.
John 9:34 “You were born entirely in sin,” they replied, “and are you trying to teach us?” Then they threw him out.
They too were BORN IN SIN, but they couldn't see it. They looked at someone as less than themselves. They thought they were superior, rather than recognizing that all come short of God's glory.
If we are really spiritual, then we know Christ is all that we have. Then, we love people. Self righteousness makes us hate others, and God hates it. Luke 18:9, “And He also spoke this parable to some trusting in themselves that they are righteous, and despising others:”
Finally, do not live in the Pharisees' religion. They can't see Jesus. The Jews made a moral system, but they had no room for Christ. His proper interpretation of the law was despised. His holiness as a mediator was rejected. Men thought they could worship God on their own.
