“However, if you listen to Me, says the Lord, and do not bring loads through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day and consecrate the Sabbath day and do no work on it, kings and princes will enter through the gates of this city. They will sit on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses with their officials, the men of Judah, and the residents of Jerusalem. This city will be inhabited forever."

God will bless us, if we rest and do no work. The Sabbath is a blessing; it is a spiritual doctrine picturing rest by faith in Christ. It's ceasing from all self righteousness and self strength; it's relying upon God to work in us, because He worked for us in the cross. He finished the work, so there's no need for us to do anything to be accepted by God, and He'll work in us by the Spirit. This is the promise of the gospel, and all who believe bear fruit.

We must know that rest is fruitful, so we can serve God acceptably, instead of laboring in vain, because we want to be better and improve ourselves. Do you want love? He'll do it. Will you warn men? It's by faith in Christ that we preach the terrors of the law. Will we see converts, grow in faithfulness, and honor God? It's by faith in Jesus that He'll do it.
