“I looked, but there was no one to help;
I was appalled, but there was no one to uphold;
so my own arm brought me salvation,
and my wrath upheld me.”
What is salvation? It is the redemption of God's elect from sin and sorrow into a glorious kingdom of everlasting holiness and joy. It is the riches of the inheritance that Christ gave us freely by His grace, when He poured out His life to pay for our sins and earn our paradise.
It is God coming in the power of the Holy Spirit to give us the firstfruit, which is the guarantee of the whole harvest [Eph 1:14]. It's the unstoppable gracious work of God in Christ because He loves us with peculiar love. It's sin being broken in time and eradicated in eternity. It's God's goodness on every sinner who believes in the remission of sins by the death and the resurrection of Christ, who was put to death for our offenses but raised for our justification.
It is the glorious gift that He freely gives to whosoever calls upon Him. So call! Ask Him, and take. Enter into the privileges and take them for your own, then live the life that this salvation gives, which is commitment to Christ and the glory of His name, worshiping Him acceptably with other true believers, in the unity of faith, rejecting this world's religion for the true worship of God in Christ.
It's a fruit producing salvation that makes us love and serve the brethren, tangibly, with our sacrifices, as we give and labor together for others to know Christ [1 John 3:17].
This salvation is worth everything, and it's the greatest possession. Don't let it slip. Don't hear in vain.
