You will notice, or perhaps you knew all along, that in order to create a congregation that prospers in the worldly sense, you will have to break every one of God’s Ten Commandments. Take a look at the last ten blogs. I simply wrote the reverse of the list given by God in Exodus 20, and commented on it.

For many, this will not be an issue. They will be quick to tell us that we are not under Moses any longer. And I will be quick to respond to these quick ones, neither are we under freedom FROM God’s ways. The New Covenant promised by God is one of the Spirit. Would these defenders of their faith be so brash as to suggest that the Spirit of God leads people to create idols, to dishonor authorities, to give ourselves to the world 24/7, to hate, to love the world, to dishonor our marriage vows, to prosper in the flesh?

I think not. We are delivered from the punishment and power of sin, but not from the eternal ways of God.

Of course I must add the fact that there ARE faithful pastors among us. Occasionally they build large churches too, but not intentionally. They cry out for souls, and teach these souls the truth. Quite often though, such men are despised and rejected as was their Master, but they carry on, determined to keep the faith in a perverse generation.

Examine your church. Does it look like the world? Does it idolize men? Is it pursuing fleshly dreams? Does it make sinners feel comfortable or convicted? Do you leave each service entertained, or instead, troubled about an area of your life that needs the Spirit’s dealings?
