“THE PORTION OF THOSE WHO PLUNDER US”--Isa 17:14
“Woe to the multitude of many people who make a noise like the roar of the seas, and to the rushing of nations that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters! The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters; But God will rebuke them and they will flee far away, and be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, like a rolling thing before the whirlwind. Then behold, at eventide, trouble! And before the morning, he is no more. This is the portion of those who plunder us, and the lot of those who rob us.” vs12-14
We thank God that He is on our side! We are sinners, like all the rest, but we’ve obtained mercy, and He’s chosen to enter a covenant with us. He takes our side against our own sins! We fall into corruption, and He brings us out. He chastens us and then breaks the chastisement. He is for us for our good.
Let us remember that we are not defeated, but we have a helping God. Our worthiness is not needed: We have Christ’s blood interceding for us, speaking better things than Abel of an infinitely worthy sacrifice. We have the promises and the hope of the word!
Therefore, when dirty, know that He will cleanse. When oppressed, know that He will comfort. When wrong, know that He’ll grant repentance. The believer makes U-turns, and we get our lives in order, overcoming TREMENDOUS mistakes. With God on our side in what is right, we have nothing to fear, because He stands with us, gives peace to our mind, and He fulfills the fruit of faith in due time.
Enemies triumph for a season, but God will break their teeth, when they’ve accomplished His purpose. “For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly [Ps 3:7].” Affliction will not have the last word. We live at peace with the God of Hope in full reconciliation, and our rejoicing is coming!
“Blessed are you poor,” our Master says [Luke 6:20]. “Blessed are those who mourn [Matt 5:4].” “Blessed are the meek,” who submit to God [Matt 5:5]: You shall rise and rejoice.
