“Put on the whole armor of God”! Every piece of it is of utmost importance if you would stand and effectively resist YOUR ADVESARY the devil. With each passing day, Christian, you should be more experienced and skilled “simply” in the duty of picking it up and putting it on! Picking up the Word, meditating in, and believing the promises of God; and then practicing/using the precepts of God in your life. The further you travel the road of Christianity, (the more you fight the good fight of faith), the more skilled, proficient, and experienced you should be in using God’s armor as your defense against the devil’s wiles. Remember, you must know your enemy/adversary, but you must also know the artillery and defensive armor that God has provided for your defense! Allow me to illustrate: You can take up an M-16 or M-4 automatic weapon, you could be sent into combat, but if you’ve never loaded and fired an M-16 or M-4, it’s not going to do you much good. I can give you body armor to put on, but if you’ve never put on body armor, you’re going to be standing there trying to figure out how to put it on, while the enemy is attacking you. Simply the task of “Putting on the whole armor of God” must be something that you consistently practice, ONLY then are you ready to use it, that you might stand against the wiles of the devil! If you don’t become experienced in taking it up and putting it on, you will never be effective in the use of it.
