Today we will pick up on the theme we discussed yesterday. Yesterday, we noted that the Bible teaches us that there are only two paths - the straight and narrow path that leads to life and the crooked and broad path that leads to destruction. The Bible is getting us to think about where we are going. Every road takes us to a destination. The two separate paths outlined by the Bible are polar opposites. Solomon gives us a warning to avoid the pathway of the wicked.
Our text today is not complicated to grasp. In other words, the principle is clear. This text only becomes complicated when we try to straddle both paths. You may be struggling in your own Christian walk because you are trying to keep one foot in the Kingdom of God while keeping the other in the world. The Bible warns against these attempts by giving examples such as - you cannot serve two masters, or refrain from being lukewarm, or when you put your hands to the plough, don't look back. We are to be committed to Jesus alone and make sure our allegiance is to Him and Him alone.
Finally, as Christians we should never be deceived by liberal or worldly teaching that promotes multiple paths to God. The moral relativist will be shocked on the Day of Judgment, because there will be a standard by which they will be judged. There is only One Way to God the Father. We find acceptance to God through Jesus Christ. And as we journey on this pilgrimage home, we are to stay on the straight paths and avoid the crooked paths. The Bible teaches us that God is always watching; therefore, the Book of Proverbs tells us to watch our path and allow our Heavenly Father to guide us home.
