Get Wisdom! - Proverbs 4:5

We are a people who likes to get and acquire things. Think about all the things you like to get - clothes, cars, houses, toys, entertainment, etc...When you think of all the things you would like to get, does getting wisdom rise to the top of your list? According to Solomon, it should. In all our getting, we should acquire wisdom. We should cry out for wisdom. We should look for her like one hunts for hidden treasure.

Do you see how foolish we have been? We don't think this way. We live in a culture that doesn't encourage (or value) the pursuit of godly wisdom. We need to understand that we have been conditioned by our culture to despise a virtue that the Bible says is primary. This should be our pursuit. Consider the following scenario - if you had the option to choose $10 million or gaining wisdom, which would you choose? Many people would struggle with this decision. Solomon had such a choice, and he chose wisdom.
