Wisdom Offers What Adam Gave Up - Proverbs 3:16-17

Wisdom offers long life, prosperity, honor, pleasantness and a peaceful life. Wisdom is offering the benefits of heaven. She is offering us what Adam relinquished. Adam would have enjoyed all of these benefits if he would have obeyed.

Unfortunately, Adam decided to live his own life, lean on his own understanding, and made himself the final authority. When Adam rebelled, what did he give up? He gave up length of days – in the day that you eat the fruit, you shall die. He gave up riches – by the sweat of your brow, you will toil for everything. He gave up honor – in sin he hid in shame from God. He gave up the pleasant and peaceful life – before the fall, there was harmony and peace; now there is hostility; immediately after they ate the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve began to blame one another.
