“They were scattered for lack of a shepherd, and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild beasts.” vs5
This is weariness to the gospel preacher: He sees God’s people scattered as sheep without a shepherd.
Today, I was looking at old pictures, and to my grief, I saw many false prophets. Many preachers mislead their people for greed and power, but they do not teach the flock properly.
What shall we do? Expound God’s word faithfully.
I also saw a missionary, probably in Kenya, teaching clearly online. He was preaching the old gospel - the true gospel - of God saving sinners unstoppably… a gospel that gives all glory to God in choosing us, redeeming us, and calling us to Himself irresistibly. This encourages me to PREACH IT CLEARLY. It cannot be stopped by man. God will call His sheep out and be a Shepherd to them.
All will not be saved, but the elect will be. Let us go forward boldly, clearly, and fearlessly. Let us teach the gospel as it is.
Secondly, do you see the word? “I will rescue them.” vs11-12
“For this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I Myself will search for My flock and seek them out. As a shepherd looks for his scattered sheep when he is among the flock, so I will look for My flock. I will rescue them from all the places to which they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.”
God will not be mocked. He does not plan and fail. There is no power in the universe, not even in man, that can withstand the Lord’s call to His sheep. He breaks the cedars [Ps 29:4-5]. He gives a new heart! He opens eyes, as He sees fit.
“The hearing ear and the seeing eye,
The Lord has made them both.” --Prov 20:12
No one can even slow Him down.
It may be one in a city and two in the family, but the elect WILL be saved [Jer 3:14]. The rest of mankind is hardened in His justice [Rom 11:7]. They will not hear, so they perish. His sheep, however, will be delivered.
Let us go with the gospel and search them out. Let us pray and complain to our God that we need more unity in the Spirit, so we can go together. Let’s put aside pride and backbiting. Let’s put aside evil tactics [2 Cor 4:2]. Let us go in the Holy Spirit and not ourselves.
We shall see fruit in our labor, one way or another, because He does not send us in vain. Ours is not a purposeless mission. He has sheep, and He’s chosen preaching to bring them out!
Finally, God will rightfully destroy His enemies! Vs16
“I will seek the lost, bring back the strays, bind up the broken, and strengthen the weak; but the sleek and strong I will destroy. I will shepherd them with justice.”
They deserve to be punished, because they WILL NOT LISTEN! They love false prophets and heed their carnality [2 Tim 4:3-4]. They have itching ears to hear some new self-centered prophecy that’s not about Christ. They want their barns to increase and couldn’t care less about their souls. They want enough of Jesus to make them happy, but not enough to make them holy - just a little jesus on the side.
Christendom has been perverted, and we all know it, if we are looking. The Judge, however, is at the door!
