Dr. Solomon paints a very gruesome picture to ensure there is no question as to what happens to those who enter the house of the seductress. Solomon wants every young man to understand what is happening within the house of the forbidden woman. Her home is sliding into hell and she will drag as many into the pit as she can deceive.
Is this the kind of woman you want to be associated with? Proverbs says - this woman is going to the place of the dead, and all those who go to her will go down with her. This theme will come up several times within Proverbs. This tells me we need to heed this warning. We need to hear Solomon's warning especially in our day since the adulterous woman, the woman who breaks covenant with her God is celebrated in our society. Not only do we need this warning for our young men, but our young women need to hear this as well. Our culture is pushing our young girls into this area of debauchery (that leads to temporal and eternal destruction). Our society loves to put a sugary veneer on sin, but understand all this sugar will melt away in hell; where the full effects of sin will be realized.
This is just one kind of person Proverbs teaches us to avoid in order to stay on the pathway of righteousness. Do you see how wisdom protects us from moral ignorance? Do you see how wisdom guards us? She (wisdom) is a shield to the the wise!
