Here we see another element of Wisdom's protection. One of the ways that Wisdom protects us is by warning us. When we refuse to be selective about our companions, then we forsake the paths of uprightness in order to walk in the ways of darkness. Those that are choosing to ignore the warning of Wisdom are growing in number.
Solomon teaches us that there is a special class of sinners, who not only walk on the wayward path, but actually enjoy and rejoice in doing evil. The Bible teaches us that there are those who love to practice wickedness. In other words, they look for ways to sin; and since misery loves company, they look for others to practice their trade. Wisdom is trying to deliver us from such people. This text is timely, because our culture celebrates perversion. As a result, many within the church have sympathies for such sinners. We should never sympathize or have affections for those that Wisdom is warning against. Wisdom dictates that we call them from their destructive path and refuse to join them.
May God grant us the grace to heed the warning of Wisdom!
