Dr. Solomon gives us another dose of medicine to secure wisdom.
All one has to do is cry our for discernment and lift your voice for understanding. How have many of us have actually done this? If someone stood outside our homes and could hear our prayers, would they hear us crying out for wisdom. Would they hear us crying out to God to remove foolishness from our thinking? Do we, like Solomon, desire to forsake riches, glory, and honor in order to obtain wisdom? Forget about crying out, do we even whisper for wisdom? Do we pray constantly and eagerly that God would grant us wisdom? One pastor reminds us - we are not known as a diligent people. We are "quick fix" fools.
Many people are under the mistaken belief that we will fall into wisdom, like we fall into love. The results for both are disastrous. People do not just fall into love. A good marriage requires work, diligence, humility, and thoughtfulness. The fool does not just fall into wisdom. Wisdom is something we pursue. Wisdom is like a good marriage, it is hard fought for and requires us to give up certain things to obtain it and maintain it.
Let me encourage you to start giving yourself to wisdom, if you have not. Have you thought for just ten minutes as to what you need to focus on to grow in wisdom? Have you thought about immaturity and how to drive it away? Have you asked God for wisdom? Because God's Word promises that if we ask for wisdom He will give it to us liberally.
