2 Kings 25:30, “And his allowance was a continual allowance given him of the king, a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life.”

Jehoiachin's case is like that of the people of God. Our portion is given to us by the King. It is a sure portion; a gracious and perpetual portion. The Lord Jesus sees that His people have a continual allowance that never runs done. Because of the King we can say, “I shall not want.” But what really stands out is that the supply was daily. Jehoiachin was not sent away from the king's palace with a 'supply' to last him for months, but his provision was given to him as a daily supply. The Lord has taught us to say, (Luke 11:3) “Give us day by day our daily bread.” The Lord has promised,(Deuteronomy 33:25) “as thy days, so shall thy strength be. We get grace each day to face what we meet or suffer on that day. As Spurgeon has said, “We do not need tomorrow's supplies; for that day has not yet dawned, and its needs are as yet unborn. The thirst which we may suffer in the month of June—does not need to be quenched in February, for we do not feel it yet. If we have enough for each day as the days arrive—we shall never know want. Sufficient for the day—is all that we can enjoy.”

Day by day and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
I've no cause for worry or for fear.
He whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best,
Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
