This simple statement is the foundation for all of our lives, our hopes, our dreams, our confidence and our eternity. God is great and above ALL things, and HE does all that HE pleases. Period. He does not ask our permission, He does not seek our input, He does not need our help. HE is GOD - we are not. If that basic truth is planted in you then you will find that your life is filled with glory. If it is not, you will spend your days seeking to understand what is going on around you. You will seek to make sense of a world that has gone mad around you and struggle to assert your will, your desires, your feeble power so that you can somehow bring some sense of order. You will fail, for you are not God. You will fail, for you do not have the power to do whatever you please. You will fail for God is already at work, accomplishing HIS will and fashioning the glory that will be revealed in us. Although we might have questions as to why, when we trust that God is on His throne and governing His creation we have peace when WE don’t see the answers. Because we know that God DOES see the answers. The whole of the Christian life is rooted right here. Can God be trusted? Do you believe that He is great, that He is good, that is able? If so, then lean in and rest in the arms of the Beloved, if not, then turn from self, cry for pardon, lean in and rest in the arms of the Beloved. In either case dear one, the answer is the same - cast yourself upon the mercy of the only One who can be trusted to never turn you away, AND who is the only one who has the wisdom, plan and power to guarantee that all will turn out as it should.
