“But the sons of rebellion shall all be as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands. But the man who touches them must be armed with iron and the shaft of a spear, and they shall be utterly burned with fire in their place.” vs6-7
God’s going to destroy everyone that doesn’t obtain His mercy. He sends David, a psalmist after God’s own heart, to sing salvation [vs3-4]. Yet the people, even his own family, did not hear. They reject the one who fears God. He says,
“Although my house is not so with God, yet He has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. For this is all my salvation and all my desire.” vs5
What shall happen to this house that’s “not so with God?”
God will take them like thorns for the burning. He’ll deal with them roughly and arm Himself for battle. He will meet sinners on their own terms of enmity, and He’ll repay them to their face [Deut 7:10].
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God… to be unreconciled through Christ. He warns us everywhere. Will you take heed?
