Some have asked about helping in this way. Rather than writing each of you I am using this forum. First, thank you! Second, please do not receive this as a request for financial aid. We covet your prayers more than anything, and are looking to the Lord to provide. But, of course, we recognize He uses means. So if the Lord is prompting you in this way know that we are deeply grateful.
Brief background... in case you are wondering why I have posted a blog about legal fees, let me explain. This last Lord's Day (February 7) I received a summons to appear in court for gathering the congregation for worship. The maximum penalty in this case is $100,000 and one year in prison. I am prepared to accept both, but we feel it is important to contest this in court not only for our sakes but for the sake of churches across the country.
The plan is to "commence proceedings in Superior Court to challenge the constitutionality of the relevant sections of the Reopening Ontario Act." We expect that the implications of this case will be far reaching.
If you wish to donate there are two options. You can donate using our give button. [Update: As of June 25 donations will go directly to my account. This is not ideal but out of necessity. We are working on setting up a trust account so that there is oversight and accountability.]
Or you can donate directly to our lawyer. He is a Christian man who has set up his practice to help churches like our own. Any support given toward his law practice is support for the Church. If you wish to give to the lawyer cheques should be made out to A. Polizogopoulos Professional Corporation. In the memo line you can write in "Faith Presbyterian Church" or "Steve Richardson". And then mail it to the following address:
