(Romans 3:10-12)

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”

There has never been one unrighteous man that ever did one righteous thing that effected a change in his unrighteous soul! Lost man can no more profit himself spiritually than a dead man can profit himself physically. One is dead to physical things, the other is dead to spiritual things. To believe would be a spiritually good thing! To have faith would be a spiritually good thing that would change their position and condition but it would also violate every sentence in the scripture above. This is why the opportunity of salvation is not the gift of God, but the very act of salvation itself is the gift of God. Faith in the saving object of Jesus Christ is wrought in the heart by God and is not and act of a sinfully, spiritually dead man! To God alone be the Glory!
