All this week, on the “Calling For Truth” Radio Program, we have been looking at the Culture and it impact on the preaching of the Gospel.
On Monday we looked at how the African culture was influencing the message in some segments of the Pentecostal church, specifically in the preaching of a prosperity gospel.
On Tuesday, we looked at how the American culture, with its obsession with appearances, is influencing the message of the American Church.
On today’s program, we will review a recent survey, conducted by Barna Research, re: the attitudes of young people (both professing Christians and non-believes) toward Christianity in general.
The survey reveals that there is a high level of Skepticism and Frustration with Christianity among the new generation.
The study states; “ The study shows that 16- to 29-year-olds exhibit a greater degree of criticism toward Christianity than did previous generations when they were at the same stage of life. In fact, in just a decade, many of the Barna measures of the Christian image have shifted substantially downward, fueled in part by a growing sense of disengagement and disillusionment among young people.”
